A lot of what people find is small and does not need a remediation company. Some of it does. We come out, test it properly, and tell you which one you have — including when the answer is "you do not need us."
Most companies advertise a free mold inspection. We do not, and we want to be straight with you about why.
A free inspection has to be paid for somehow. It gets paid for by finding a big job. That is the pressure you feel when someone walks your basement and comes back with a number in the tens of thousands.
We charge a flat fee for the visit and credit it in full if you hire us. It means we can afford to tell you there is nothing much wrong — and sometimes there isn't.
Plain English, no scare stories. Mold needs three things to grow: moisture, something to eat, and time. Take away the moisture and you take away the problem.
If something got wet and stayed wet, mold can begin to establish within roughly 24 to 48 hours. This is the common case, and it is why drying a place out properly matters more than any spray. If your leak was recent, the useful question is not "how do I kill the mold" — it is "is the structure still wet?" That is measurable, and we measure it.
Often this is surface growth from condensation and poor ventilation, not a building problem. It frequently does not need a remediation company at all. We will tell you if that is what you have, and what to do about the ventilation so it does not come back.
A smell with no visible source usually means moisture somewhere you cannot see — under flooring, behind a wall, in a crawlspace. This is worth investigating properly, because guessing leads to opening walls that did not need opening.
Colour does not tell you much, and we are not going to make health claims — we are a restoration contractor, not a doctor. If you are worried about your health, speak to your GP or an industrial hygienist. What we can tell you is where the moisture is, how far it has travelled, and what it will cost to put right.

If your final invoice is higher than the number you signed, you do not pay the difference — we do. Any work we performed that is not on a page you signed is free.
Mold jobs are exactly where bills grow mid-job, because nobody can see behind the wall until it is open. So our rule is simple: if we open something and find more, work stops, we re-price it in writing, and you decide again.
Flat fee, credited in full against the work if you hire us. You get the written Roadmap either way.
If your mold came from a leak that is still active, start on the water page instead — drying it is the first job.
Sometimes, and often only partly — mold cover is frequently capped or excluded, and it usually depends on what caused the water. We are not an insurer or an adjuster and we do not file claims. We do give you photos, readings and a written scope, which is what you need to make your own claim.
Usually not to start. If you can see it, you do not need a lab to tell you it is there — you need to know how far it goes and where the water came from. If independent testing genuinely is warranted, we will say so and point you to a third party, because we should not be the ones grading our own work.
A contained single-room job is usually a few days including drying time. Your Roadmap gives you the day count before you commit.
Mold usually comes back when the underlying moisture was never fixed. Fixing the source greatly reduces the chance of it returning, but as with any biological growth we can't promise a specific outcome for your property — only the scope, price and timeline of the work. That is why the Roadmap names the source, not just the growth; if we did not fix it, we will tell you who needs to — a plumber, a roofer, or a grading problem outside.
Both are licensed work in Connecticut and we do not do either. If we suspect it, we stop and refer you to a licensed contractor. We would rather lose the job than do something we are not licensed for.
We will not answer that one, and you should be wary of a contractor who does. We are a restoration company, not a medical practice. For health questions, speak to your doctor. For moisture, structure and price, that is us.
